Ross Morrison McGill

Founder
Teacher Toolkit

Ross is globally known as @TeacherToolkit, and over 20 million readers have visited his website.

He began teaching in 1991 and taught for 26 years in London’s national-challenge (secondary) schools, including 20 years as a school leader. A multiple award-winning teacher, blogger and author, Ross was featured in The Sunday Times’ ‘500 Most Influential People in Britain’ (2015). To this day, he remains the only classroom teacher to have been included on the list.

In April 2025, Ross was invited by the Cabinet Office and the Department for Education, to visit number 10 Downing Street and meet the Prime Minister. The purpose? To share his social media expertise.

Today, Ross works with teachers and schools worldwide, enhancing teaching and learning, reducing workload, and improving teacher mental health. He is also the author of 12 books on education, and over 100,000 people have purchased his books, which continue to inspire and empower teachers globally.

Ross attended seven state schools as a free school meals pupil. His early experiences shaped his passion for education, and despite facing significant personal challenges as a survivor of child sex abuse, he has channelled his resilience into a lifelong commitment to improving the lives of others through teaching and learning. At the root of everything Ross does, he is a design and technology teacher at heart
